Beachwood Nursery School

Our Programs

Beachwood Nursery School and Early Learning Center offers several programs including: Infant/Toddlers, Nursery, Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten Enrichment and Full Day Kindergarten. Our current programs are offered 2, 3, or 5 days a week for a half day (2 1/2 hours), a school day (6 1/4 hours) and an extended day (9 hours).

Our curriculum is based on a developmental continuum integrating the needs and interests of the whole child with adult-child interactions and multi-sensory experiences. Children learn best through play.

The following experiences and examples encourage learning by doing:

  • Self-expressive art (collage materials, finger-paints, tempera paints...)
  • Sensory activities (sand & water play, shaving cream, play-dough)
  • Music & Rhythm (weekly Music Together preschool classes)
  • Dramatic Play (role playing, puppets, pretend play, story re-telling...)
  • Listening activities (books on tape, echo songs, finger plays, rhyme time...)
  • Library/Story time (big books, props, board books, read-a-longs...)
  • Writing Activities (writing experiences at all learning centers)
  • Block Building (wooden blocks, castle blocks, duplo, legos...)
  • Manipulatives (puzzles, legos, folder games, math/literacy activities...)
  • Science Activities (mixing colors, making predictions, cooking...)
  • Technology(computers in each classroom, digital cameras, CD players, Record Players)
  • Group Games (circle time, movement activities)
  • Small Group Activities (individualization, movement activities, journaling)
