REGISTRATION

Enrollment for the fall begins in February.  Children should be three by October 1st; toilet-trained, and have the required immunizations.  Payment of a non-refundable registration fee and a completed application form secures a place for your child.  To complete the enrollment process at Beachwood Nursery School, parents must complete a signed medical record, student profile, and an emergency/release card prior to the first day of attendance.

Tuition is based on the Toms River Regional Schools’ calendar of 180 days for a 5-day program, 105 days for a 3-day program, or 75 days for a 2-day program.  For your convenience, tuition is divided into ten equal payments due the first of each month; beginning in August and ending in May.  A late fee of $2 per day will be assessed for all late payments.  Beachwood Nursery School expenses are paid by tuition; therefore, no deductions will be made for daily or extended absences or emergency closings.  We require a two week notice prior to a student withdrawal before prepaid tuition can be refunded.  This notice must be in writing.

Playground Project

"Leaf-a-Legacy"

All BNS families & alumni are invited to purchase a handcrafted wooden leaf for a minimum donation of $25. Families have the opportunity to paint & decorate their leaf with their family name displayed in the center of the leaf. Once the leaves are completed and sealed, they will be displayed on the tree murals located outside on the playground shed. The tree murals were hand-painted by local artist, Blair Goold.

ABOUT US

Beachwood Nursery School is a family owned and operated business. Justina Newman completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Georgian Court College in 1981. Justina opened the school in September 1986 with 2 classrooms. After the first year, Beachwood Nursery School was able to finish off the second floor and add a 3rd classroom.  To date, Beachwood Nursery School offers 12 different programs to our families in order to accommodate their schedules and needs. In 1999 Justina’s daughter, Michelle, came on board as a full-time teacher after completing her bachelor’s degree at Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. Michelle was not new to the classroom as she worked as a high school assistant and teacher’s assistant before going to college.  Michelle has achieved her Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from the University of Phoenix. She holds a NJ Department of Education State Teaching Certification K-8 and a Preschool - 3rd Grade certification. Michelle is also certified to teach Kids Yoga and Music Together. Her certifications are from Next Generation Yoga and Music Together.

Through the years, Justina has educated young children as well as her staff. She has assisted her teachers through providing professional development, encouraging college education and through achieving their NJ Department of Education Teacher’s Certification. As of 2006, Beachwood Nursery School has helped 5 teachers achieve their State Teaching Certification, 4 teachers finish their undergraduate degrees and 5 teachers achieve their Child Development Associate.

There is no doubt that education is a number one priority at Beachwood Nursery School.  Michelle is the acting Director. Justina maintains presence at the school as the Financial Manager and Curriculum Supervisor.
